Responsible Gambling
Gambling should be entertainment, not a way to make money or cope with stress. If it stops being fun, take action early.
Safer play basics
- Set a budget and time limit before you start; never chase losses.
- Use only money you can afford to lose; avoid borrowing or selling assets to gamble.
- Take regular breaks and avoid gambling when upset, stressed, or under the influence.
- Balance gambling with other activities and responsibilities.
Warning signs to watch for
- Spending more time or money than planned, or hiding gambling from others.
- Chasing losses, increasing stakes, or feeling unable to stop.
- Gambling to escape problems, anxiety, or low mood.
- Missing work/study, conflict with family/friends, or financial difficulties.
